A "VIP" Visits an ESOL Class

Maryland's Lieutenant Governor, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, who is a candidate for Governor of Maryland, visited Mrs. Semirot's U.S. history class in April. The students in Mrs. Semirot's class are all from other countries and most have been in the United States for about a year.

Trocon Kai, one of the students in the class said that the Lieutenant Governor told the class that it was great that many students from different countries are able to do their best even though English is a problem for them. "She is very nice," Trocon said. "Most people understood her English."
