Spanish TV Show

by Juan Turcios

Can you imagine that a four-hour-long TV show every Saturday would be very popular? Well it is. The show is called "Sabado Gigante" and is one of the most popular shows on the Spanish channel 30 Univision. Many people watch it every single Saturday, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. This show is one of the longest shows on Univision.

The idea of this show came from a man named Don Francisco from Chile. He began work on this show in Santiago, Chile ten years ago. Then he decided to make a contract with the Univision channel to start the show in Miami, Florida. Don Francisco decided that this program would be good for the Hispanic community that is living in this country.

This program has many different parts. One of the parts is music. Every Saturday they have a music group or some important singer. They also have "La Familia Fernandez." This is a comedy part that they have. Also they have a short conversation with children during the program. They speak about any kinds of problems that happen in their community, families or in their schools.

Don Francisco also tries to show to the Hispanic community the different kinds of cultures and languages around the world, with the travel camera. "La Camara Viajera" travels to many different countries and every Saturday Don Francisco shows different places.

Don Francisco also helps the people meet again those they have not seen for a long time.

Many of Blair's Hispanic students see "Sabado Gigante" every Saturday in the evening. Many students like it because it's funny and Don Francisco does many different things during the show to make you continue watching the program.

"I like it because by this show the Hispanic community is together in this country and around the world," Norma M. said. Sandra said, "In my home all my family watches this TV show but I don't like it because four hours is too long."

This show is one of the richest shows for the Hispanic community because every Saturday people can win hundreds and hundreds of dollars. The most important part of this show is the end because one person wins a beautiful car.

If you are feeling bored and you don't have anything to do on Saturday evening, try to see it. If you don't speak Spanish try to learn it and then begin to enjoy this show.
