A Haitian Proverb

by Bellini and Nadege

In Haiti we have a lot of proverbs. A Proverb is something that describes someone's life, comparing it to someone else's life. For example this is one Haitian proverb talking about the poor people in pain when the rich aren't in pain.

"Wòch nan dlo pakonnen misè wòch nan solèy."

Which means in English:

"Rocks in the water don't know the misery of rocks in the sun."

This proverb shows you that the rich people have no idea about how the poor are suffering.
