Trying
to Get on the Blair Soccer Team
by Hiskias Asress
This year I wanted to
get on the Blair soccer team because I learned about it last year.
During the summer time, two weeks before the school started, they had soccer
try outs. But before you play you have to have your physical completed. So
during the summer time when I was working, I stopped my job for soccer tryouts.
I paid $25 for the health physical and I did all the things that I was supposed
to do.
On Monday morning the players were supposed to meet on Sligo soccer field.
There were a lot of players including the coach. After a little while the
coach collected the medical papers. After that we started practicing.
The practice was so hard. We practiced twice a day in the morning at 8:00
a.m. and in the afternoon at 3:00 p.m. There were 45 players but the coach
needed only 24 players.
After we practiced one day he cut out five players because they did not do
what he told them to do. Then after three days he cut out ten players including
me. Most of us were playing well. We were so disappointed but the coach couldnt
do anything because a lot of payers were returning from last year.
My recommendation to soccer players is if you play soccer dont give
up. You need to try again and again. Unfortunately for me I am 12th grade
and cannot try again next year. Another recommendation for the soccer coach
is to tell us when we first come to the school about the soccer team and the
try outs. There are many good soccer players in the school who dont know
about the team when they first come.
