Congratulations to Mrs. Demers Outstanding ESOL Teacher 1997/98

Congratulations to Mrs. Carrie Demers who won an Outstanding ESOL Teacher Award from Montgomery County Public(Carrie Demers photo) Schools ESOL Advisory Committee.

Mrs. Demers started as an intructional aide at Blair in 1989 and became a teacher in 1992. She taught ESOL reading and she developed her own curriculum for teaching math to ESOL students and she has been teaching math since then.

Also, Mrs. Demers coached Cheerleaders and JV Volleyball for four years, and Co-ed Volleyball for 5 years.

"I am delighted and proud to be a member of the ESOL team in Montgomery County. It is really a great honor to receive such a prestigious award and I'd like to thank the Blair staff and the ESOL students for nominating me for this award and especially thanks to Mrs. Karen Shilling for organizing the nomination packet." Mrs. Demers said.

Mrs. Demers and Mrs. Winter started a support group to help ESOL students after school and during lunch which has now became a helpful Academic Support for current and former ESOL students.
